Liondance photos
These photos were taken on March 31st,1997, Trooz, Belgium. It was a
liondance tournament in which two Belgian teams and one Chinese team
competed. The Chinese team won, but the Belgian teams did do an exellent
performance as well... I was told, because we arrived too late and thus
had already missed all but the Chinese team. Fortunately, as you can tell
by these photos, they were great! While the judges were conferring, we
were entertained by the dragon.
On the right: the music. On the left, high up: the lion. Do note the
stage... huge!
To stand on oneanothers legs so high is really cool, but the training to
get that far will definately have included a large number of bruises. :-)
Looking around, the lion has just found the green.. It's on the front of
the construction, about a meter or so under the foot-level (or should
that be paw-level ;-) of the lion.
Well, the lion came down quite a bit further but due to bad photography, that shot wasn't made. Sorry you guys, I'll try to do better next time....
I do want to tell you how this went on: the rear person was standing on the stage with the legs of the head-player around his waist.. And it got better!! He lowered his partner, and when the greens were taken, he pulled back and up, so the head-man came up high in the air and landed on his thighs!!!! (I can only dream of this.. :-)
